I am the fourth of six children, two girls, and four boys. I married Roger Hoskins, and we were married for 56-years. We have a daughter and son who live in Boulder, and I am a grandmother.
My husband passed away in 2016 of cancer after a 16-year struggle. I am the widow of an Army veteran, mother of a Navy veteran, and sister of an Air Force veteran. My father was a General Motors dealer and Union organizer, my mother, was a stay-at-home Mom.
I started volunteering and working at the age of 12 by delivering papers and babysitting. From the age of 14 to 18, I worked at a grocery store. At 18, I became an employee of my father's business.
I accompanied my husband to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. I worked for the Army & Air Force Exchange and the Department of the Army during his time in service. After his service, we moved back home to my small town, with a population of 2,000. I worked for the Department of Agriculture, in Peoria, Illinois, for 13 years and then started working at Caterpillar Tractor's Department of Defense. We moved to Ohio, and I worked for the Department of Defense as a Computer Programmer, GS-12, and retired with 26 years of Federal service. In the last year of my employment, I facilitated the "The Power of Positive Thinking," a program for Federal Employees.
I have owned two businesses ("Hoskins Aero" and "The Lone Arranger"). I was the President of "Flight-for-Life of Ohio" (non-profit) and owner of a Cherokee airplane used to transport patients with special medical needs for free. Flight-for-Life of Ohio was a family endeavor with our daughter, the administrator, and our son, the pilot.
My husband and I retired to Boulder City in 2001 (20 years ago). I served as the President of Bella Vista Property Owner's Association (16 years) and resigned when appointed to the City Council.
I am a hard worker, have a lot of energy, use good judgment, and my maturity and experience allow me to make tough decisions, and analyze complex situations. I do not take intimidation lightly or allow it to interfere with my decision making. I will listen to everyone's ideas and analyze them, but I may disagree, and I will explain why I disagree.
